Dancing with the Stars!
December 18, 2012
Seven years ago, one of my dreams came true in Bangkok, Thailand when I won the coveted Miss Universe crown. And now, in the very same place, my other dream is coming true – competing on Dancing with the Stars reality TV show! For me, Thailand seems to be a place where dreams come true.
Ever since I can remember I’ve been drawn to dance and performance. I’ve always taken part in any school dance productions that were available, and I’ve always loved learning new dance moves. Even during my pageant days, my favorite part of the contest was the opening number dance, because it gave me a chance to perform on stage in front of an audience. I’ve also been a huge fan of the US version of DWTS for several years. It was always a secret dream of mine that one day I could compete on a show like this. Finally, DWTS Thailand is here! When the producers called to invite me to participate, I immediately agreed without any hesitation.
We started rehearsals at the beginning of December. My dance partner is fantastic! His name is Tea and he’s been a professional dancer for over 9 years. We get along great, even with somewhat of a language barrier. Tea speaks some English and I speak some Thai, and with that we are able to communicate quite efficiently. Most importantly, we get along well and have great chemistry, which is so important on the dance floor. Over the past few weeks we’ve grown very close to each other and we are having so much fun! Tea is a fantastic teacher and helps me a lot with my technique.
The other contestants and their pro dance partners are all great! We are all like a big, happy family, who support and want to help each other any way we can. In the group we have an athlete, two singers, former Miss Thailand Universe-turned actress, former actor-turned businessman, and even a member of the Thai Royal family!
In the last few weeks we’ve had our promo shots for the press done, as well as opening titles shoot where I got to wear my Miss Universe crown for the first time in 6 years since passing it on.
The executive producer is one of Thailand’s most famous super-models – Lukade (Kathy) Metinee Kingpayome.
The rehearsals have been challenging but a lot of fun! It is very tiring and sometimes even frustrating when I can’t get the steps right at the beginning. But the more I practice, the better I get, so I’m certain my partner will make me into a great dancer by the first episode.
I’m hopeful that through my dances I will be able to inspire and uplift viewers and that they will want to keep seeing me on the show week after week. The scores will be a combination of judge’s marks and viewer’s votes.
First episode will air on Channel 7 (Thailand) – January 8th, 2013 at 10:30pm, so please tune in if you can and vote for Tea and I. I promise to do my best!
No look is complete without a splash of color on your face. This is where a blush and bronzer come in. Putting on blush and bronzer is my favorite part of the whole makeup routine!
You have to get all the necessary vitamins that your body needs to function properly and make you feel and look your best. Vitamins have a big effect on your appearance…
Start Slow. Try setting your goal for one litre a day at first. Fill up a one-litre bottle in the morning and make it your goal to finish it by the end of the day.
Season’s greetings to everyone from Riga, Latvia! It’s cold here and I’m not used to it, coming from warm and sunny Thailand. Luckily I have my old winter clothes from Canada
